Meet Pilikia Bug, a handmade little bug for big feelings, wishes, worries, and the things that can be hard to say out loud.
Inspired by the Hawaiian word pilikia, meaning trouble, problem, or difficulty, Pilikia Bug gives written worries a small place to go and be held for a while. It is a little bug for big feelings, made for the person carrying the feeling and for the trusted people who love, teach, care for, or check in on them.
Each Pilikia Bug is handmade by The Frazzled Pea using colorful reclaimed fabric scraps, wild fiber hair, expressive hand-created eyes, a zippered mouth, and a back pocket that holds blank Pilikia Cards. No two bugs are exactly alike. Each one has its own scrappy personality, stitched together with care, character, and a little bit of whimsy.
To use it, choose a blank Pilikia Card from the back pocket. Write down a worry, wish, thought, feeling, or something that is bugging you. Then feed the written card into the bug’s zippered mouth. Once inside, the written worry is symbolically out of sight and out of mind, letting the bug hold it for a while.
For children, aging parents, loved ones, or anyone who may have trouble saying what they feel, the cards can also offer a gentle way for a parent, teacher, caregiver, spouse, adult child, or trusted person to check in and see whether a worry needs extra support, quiet guidance, or intervention.
Pilikia Bug is not meant to fix every problem. It is simply a soft, handmade companion that gives worries, wishes, and big feelings a place to rest until someone is ready to look at them, talk about them, or let them go.

Write a thought or worry on a Pilikia Card, feed it into the bug’s zippered mouth, and let the bug hold it for a while. The back pocket holds blank Pilikia Cards, ready for the next big feeling.
Approximately 7 inches wide at the widest point and 14 inches long.
Slight size variations may occur because each Pilikia Bug is handmade.
Each Pilikia Bug is made with approximately 85% pre-owned cotton or cotton/polyester scrap fabrics. The stuffing is new polyester fiberfill.
Details may include reclaimed fabric scraps, new polyester fiberfill, felt eyes, painted black acrylic eye details, a working zipper mouth, yarn or fiber hair, and reinforced hair, antennae, limbs, or added parts sewn securely into the seams for durability.
Because each Pilikia Bug is handmade from available reclaimed materials, colors, prints, textures, and details will vary.
Each Pilikia Bug includes one handmade Pilikia Bug, a starter set of Pilikia Cards, an instruction and care sheet, and a printable refill sheet so additional Pilikia Cards can be printed and cut at home.
Recommended for ages 3+ with adult supervision.
Not intended for crib use, sleep use, teething, or unsupervised infant use. Contains sewn, adhered, painted, zippered, and fiber details.
Machine wash cold on gentle cycle inside a mesh laundry bag.
Machine dry on low or air dry.
Fabric softener is not recommended.
Inspect regularly and after washing. Discontinue use if any part becomes loose or damaged.
Pilikia Bugs are usually mailed in a flat-rate padded envelope when possible.
